Kick Start Sunday Zine/Book

Hey
It's been a long time.
So, a lot has happened.

I decided to go back to photography school and fill some knowledge gaps, (there are SO many, I think it may take awhile so hang in there)

Before I enrolled I was a little bored so I thought I'd collate all my Kick Start Sunday photos.  Figuring this would take a weekend, I could use Blurb and make myself a nice little book.  Buzz saw what I was doing and suggested that there might be a few other people that might want a copy.

I thought, ok I'll print some extras and have a party, people can pick up a copy and we could all have a few drinks.

Giving myself about just under 2 months (thinking this would be ample time)  I put 4 books together, one for each year, found an amazing printer close by, and set to work.

Looking back at my photos from 4 years ago, I realized my editing was pretty shit house.  So I'd had to re-edit EVERYTHING.  This coupled with my homework from my new studies, I rarely left my house for anything other than work or school, and was at my computer almost any other waking hour.

So I am pretty happy to announce that TONIGHT IS THE LAUNCH of these Zines/Books.
I'm having it at The Old Bike Shop Cafe in Brunswick (as my dad said "that's a pretty trendy area" ).

Come along it will be awesome!

If you are unable to make it tonight, send me an email at pepper.minx@hotmail.com  I will put you on the back order list.  IF (that's a big if) I sell out tonight, I will be doing a reprint, so NO ONE will  miss out!

Cash only bar tonight.  ($40 for the set)

Hair UPDATE

Ok.
So about this time last year I posted this post
Girl News Hair News
I've had Black with white hair for well over 5 years and it was time for a change.  Though the sort of change I was after was going to take some time.
Notice anything missing from this photo?

I spent almost 10 months walking around with terrible re-growth hair.  With the plan on eventually going blonde, and looking something like this:

I so love Wanda Woodward (Traci Lords) look in this film!

In December, the day before leaving for Japan, my hair dresser and I decided it wast time to start the transformation.

Taking inspiration from the old Melbourne Sharps look we cut, cut, cut and bleached

A great blog post on the Skins and Sharps look from the 70s
Lisa Defazio Blog

So here's an update of how I look now.

The back.  I ending up cutting the tails a little shorter, they were quiet annoying.

I am absolutely loving the freedom that cutting my hair has brought.  Having the same hair for so long was so restrictive.

Mooneyes, Yokohama, Japan 6-7th Dec 2014

This year we took a quick whirl wind tour of Japan.  In May we bought some super cheap flights so we could go to Mooneyes in Yokohama.
Starting in Osaka, then Yokohama and finally resting for a day in Tokyo.

Mooneyes this year was titled, "Be Calm, Not Loud".  This came from the fact that for this year, and I am guessing moving forward, due to complaints from local residents and hotels, the "car/bike park" was closed.   This was a major feature in previous years, I have heard guys say that the car park was almost better than the show.  Normally we'd go on the Saturday, check everything out during set up, so that when Sunday came along, you could spend the day outside watching all the bikes ride in.

To be honest with you, I spent a good part of Saturday (the rest of the day I went shopping) at setup and only about an hour or so on Sunday morning at Mooneyes.   I did miss seeing all the bikes come in on Sunday, loved sitting in the sun, taking photos of them all rollup.  I also loved being able to people watch.

These are my photos from the Saturday set up.   As you can see I simply love shooting guys pushing their bikes about.
