I started working on my photos from Russia a few weeks ago.
Here's a taste.....

Mortality, Morality and School Reunion........
It was one AMAZING trip, and I was so happy that I got to share it with a great friend of mine Sarah. Check out her blog Anomaly. She updated her blog regularly, and is becoming what can only be described as a REAL ARTIST, with real exhibitions and all! She puts so much of herself into her art, and deserves that accolades.
I have so many photos and experiences I'd love to share on here, though that will have to come at another time.
Right now I want to talk about somethings that have happened to me since returning from Russia.
A week or so ago I heard that my old Primary school had been closed down, and will be demolished , to make way for housing, very soon. I quickly did a google image search and found that the school was incredibly run down. I thought I'd better take a look.
Walking through the school buildings and across the oval bought back so many memories. The netball courts, the arts studio, the hall, all still standing, though time had aged her.

Shots shot on Film 35mm
Earlier this year I started shooting with 35mm film again.
In the past I've only ever used black and white film. So I figured why not try color.
If I make it to Russia, I am hoping to bring a few rolls of film along too.
This is a series of photos I took in April. I haven't really looked at them since I had them processed.
This is seven shots taken from one roll, almost in shooting sequence.
I think I'll name this sequence, "when they tell you, you're not missing out on much"

FLASHBACK :: Japan 2011 : 20th Mooneyes Yokohama
Recently I noticed that the last time I went to Japan I posted some photos from my iphone, then promised that I'd post some more.
Old Japan Post
I broke that promise, and I am here now to redeem myself.
On this trip we not only went to Mooneyes, Buzz and I also went to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Tokyo.
Whilst in Yokohama we caught up and met so many awesome people. I loved this trip!
Here are the photos:

Was this the Dice Party? Or a Mooneyes Party? I cannot remember....
I do know it wasn't the Greasy Kulture Party that was in Tokyo.
This is just a small selection of photos of bikes that arrived. You could just stand outside and watch the bikes arrive all day, and not go into the show.
I loved the fact that there were so many girls on these massive Harleys. They looked so cool.
The carpark was really the place to be. I went to the carpark quiet late, many people had already left. This is just a very small selection of bikes that were parked.
The car park is massive and was FULL of extraordinary bikes.
Some people just go to the Yokohama show for the carpark. I've heard that there has been some major complaints about the level noise from the hundreds of bikes coming and going from the show. So much so that this year Mooneyes will be closing the carpark.
I am pretty sure that this move will make an impact on the show, how much is yet to be seen.
If you're wondering, I am still going to Russia in a few weeks (about 6) - though my visa still isn't totally confirmed.
I'm getting excited and am looking forward to taking photos of stuff!
When I mentioned in one of my last posts that I didn't have a plan, that was not totally true. I did have a plan, I've just found out that I'm not allowed to do any of it. One thing I planned to do was go to Sweden and check out a few things there, but it turns out my visa will not allow me to travel there if I am flying in and out of Russia. Which is a bit of a bummer. Nothing like a little problem solving, though.
Maybe I might stumble across secret awesome bike and hot rod scene in Russia. You never know there might be one.
The other news I have involves Japan. More on that another time......

Ha ha, matching. Keith Weesner. I still wear this hoody. You can't see the sleeves in this shot, they were the main reason I bought it. The sleeves are so rad! |

Box of Videos
What is it about an abandoned box of videos that gets me all crazy!
On Monday afternoon someone put a box of old videos next to the LifeLine Bin, in the car park of my work place.
When I first saw it on the way to my car, I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
You know when you're walking, trying to check something out, without anyone knowing, without falling all over yourself in the process!
I was Desperate to see what movies were inside.
Sitting on top I did spy a copy of American Werewolf in London.
I kept walking to my car.
It was still there on Tuesday morning, it had dew all over it.
It was still there when I left work yesterday, someone had rummaged through, shifted the contents.
I could see a copy of Faceoff.
I couldn't take my eyes off it. I needed to know what was in there!
It was still there this morning, and this afternoon.
As I walked passed it today, I reminded myself that I don't have a video player, and I don't need those videos. I tried to convince myself that I don't even need to know what was in that box.
It's pointless knowing, I told myself, besides there were people around. They would see me bent over looking in that box, rummaging. They would think I was a freak. Someone might take a photo, then put it on instagram hashtagged trashbaby, or something.
I imagined taking all the videos out and placing them on the road and taking a photo. Then putting the photo on instagram, asking if anyone wanted the movies. I wanted to find them a good home. That's not weird.
I kept walking.
How crazy, and I am still thinking about them!
Seriously, what do I think is in there, some ultra rare John Waters Movie.
I already have Pink Flamingos on DVD and VIDEO!!
Speaking of John Waters. A week or so ago, after writing the post about my hair , I was the mood for watching Cry Baby. So I did. Then I watched it the next night, with the Directors commentary on. It was the first time ever, that I've watched a movie with the commentary running.
I don't believe there many voices out there I would want to hear jabbering over a movie I want to watch.
John Waters voice is so smooth, and he is so trashy and so funny. He can get away with spoiling my movie time with a bit of yak-ity-yak.
Well that is it for the time being.
